DAY 10 – FOUR ATTITUDES FOR HAVING A BETTER RECEPTION TO THE WORD

James 1:19-25
My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, 20 because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.21 Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you. Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.

1. I MUST BE QUIET
V19 Everyone should be quick to listen, and slow to speak. When we are talking we’re not listening, we can’t hear God when we're talking.
Psalms 46:10 - “Be still, and know that I am God;”
2. BE CALM
V19 Be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry. When we’re upset we don’t listen to others, when we are irritated we don’t listen to others.
When we’re defensive and angry we can’t hear God, but when we relax and are quiet we can listen to what the other person is saying – What God is saying.
During these 10 days and for the rest of our lives in order to get better reception from God from His word – GET QUIET, BE CALM.
3. I NEED TO BE CLEAN – come clean before God (Confession).
V21 Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent.
Proverbs 28:13 – “Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.”
I can’t have any junk in my life, any sin piled up and unconfessed and expect to hear God speak to me. Remember the word of God is the seed. Before you plant the seed, and before you plant a garden, first you prepare the soil. Remove the weeds, the rocks, get the junk out and get it ready for the seed- THE WORD.
The soil is our hearts, get rid of anything we know is wrong in our live by confessing it to the Lord and repenting
Psalm 66:18 – “If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened;”
If I had not confessed the sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened – HEARD MY PRAYER.
4. I NEED TO BE HUMBLE
V25 Humbly accept the word planted in you which can save you
What does it mean to be humble?
To do whatever God tells me in His word.
If I come with a prideful attitude, then I’ll argue then decide whether I will obey or not.
I agree with God to speak the same language.
Therefore, practice and remember these 4 attitudes to get the most out of His word and to hear Him clearly – for a better reception.
Receive the word, accept the word, and get your heart prepared to hear His voice.

DÍA 10 - CUATRO ACTITUDES PARA TENER UNA MEJOR RECEPCION DE LA PALABRA
Santiago 1:19-25
Mis queridos hermanos y hermanas, tomen nota de esto: Todos deben ser prontos para escuchar, tardos para hablar y tardos para enojarse, 20 porque la ira humana no produce la justicia que Dios desea. 21 Por lo tanto, desháganse de toda inmundicia moral y el mal que prevalece y acepta humildemente la palabra plantada en ti, que puede salvarte. No os limitéis a escuchar la palabra, y así os engañéis a vosotros mismos. Haz lo que dice. 23 Cualquiera que escucha la palabra pero no hace lo que dice es como alguien que se mira la cara en un espejo 24 y, después de mirarse a sí mismo, se va e inmediatamente olvida cómo es. 25 Pero los que miran atentamente a la ley perfecta que da libertad y perseveran en ella, sin olvidar lo que han oído, sino poniéndolo en práctica, serán bienaventurados en lo que hagan.
1. GUARDA SILENCIO
v19 Todos deben ser prontos para escuchar y lentos para hablar. Cuando estamos hablando, no estamos escuchando, es difícil escuchar a Dios cuándo estamos hablando.
Salmos 46:10 - “Estad quietos, y sabed que yo soy Dios;”
2. TENGA CALMA
v19 Sean prontos para escuchar, lentos para hablar y lentos para enojarse.
Cuando estamos molestos no escuchamos a los demás, cuando estamos irritados no escuchamos a los demás. Cuando estamos a la defensiva y enojados, no podemos escuchar a Dios, pero cuando nos relajamos y callamos, podemos escuchar lo que dice la otra persona: lo que Dios dice.
Durante estos 10 días y por el resto de nuestras vidas para que Dios nos reciba mejor recepción de Su palabra – GUARDE SILENCIO Y TENGA CALMA.
3. VEN LIMPIO DELANTE DELANTE DE DIOS
Necesito limpiarme delante de Dios (Confesión). v21 Por lo tanto, desháganse de toda inmundicia moral y de la maldad que prevalece tanto.
Proverbios 28:13 – “El que encubre sus pecados no prospera, mas el que los confiesa y se aparta alcanza misericordia.”

No puedo tener basura en mi vida, ningún pecado acumulado y sin confesar y esperar escuchar a Dios hablarme. Recuerde que la palabra de Dios es la semilla. Antes de plantar la semilla, y antes de plantar un jardín, primero prepara la tierra. Retire la maleza, las rocas, saque la basura y prepárela para la semilla- LA PALABRA. La tierra es nuestro corazón, deshacernos de todo lo que sabemos que está mal en nuestra vida al confesarlo al Señor y arrepentirnos.
Salmo 66:18 – “Si hubiera albergado pecado en mi corazón, el Señor no me habría escuchado;”
Si no hubiera confesado el pecado en mi corazón, el Señor no me hubiera escuchado.

4. HUMILLECE DELANTE DE DIOS
v25 Acepta humildemente la palabra plantada en ti que puede salvarte
¿Qué significa ser humilde? Hacer lo que Dios me diga en Su palabra.
Si vengo con una actitud orgullosa, entonces discutiré y luego decidiré si obedeceré o no.
¿Estoy hablando el mismo idioma que Dios?
Por lo tanto, practica y recuerda estas 4 actitudes para aprovechar al máximo Su palabra y escucharlo claramente, para una mejor recepción.
Recibe la palabra, acepta la palabra y prepara tu corazón para escuchar Su voz.
