THE POWER OF PERSERVERANCE

Joshua 22:1-4 Then Joshua called together the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh. He told them, “You have done as Moses, the servant of the Lord, commanded you, and you have obeyed every order I have given you. During all this time you have not deserted the other tribes. You have been careful to obey the commands of the Lord your God right up to the present day….so go back home to the land that Moses, the servant of the Lord, gave you as your possession on the east side of the Jordan River.

Before the conquest of Cana had begun, the Israeli tribes of Reuben, Gad and Manasseh were given land on the east side of the Jordan River. But before they could settle down, they had to first promise to help the other tribes conquer the land on the west side of the Promised Land. (Numbers 32:20-22)

They had patiently and diligently carried out the commission given to them by God. So Joshua commended them and released them to return and build their own cities on their own land.

PERSEVERANCE IS NECESSARY TO ACQUISITION

Faithful and persistent obedience is key to acquiring all God has for us! Beware of the temptation to quit early and abandon the things He’s called you to do.

Have you yet to see God’s promise fulfilled? Perhaps it is because you have not yet completed the assignments God gave you.

Jesus faithfully, patiently and tenaciously completed all God had sent Him to do. His whole life focused on “finishing” well.

  • Luke 2:49 I must be about My Father’s business…

  • John 4:34 My food is to do the work of the One Who sent me...

  • John 5:30 I seek only to please the One who sent me

  • Mark 14:36 Not my will but Yours...

Then, after enduring the cross, He finally declared, “It is finished!” John 19:30
