SERVING LEADS TO GOD'S PROMOTIONS

Philippians 2:5-7 You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though He was God,He did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, He gave up his divine privileges; He took the humble position of a servant.

Jesus taught us, “The greatest among you is the servant!” Yet, we tend to think that having others serve us makes us more important. But having the heart to serve actually reveals personal character that is secure enough in its identity and purpose that assuming a Ahumble posture and participating in less “glorified” activities are a joy, not a “put-down”.

Jesus had all the power and authority of heaven within Him. Yet He did not find it difficult to lay aside His glory, put on an apron, and wash feet. He came, not to be served, but to serve others. And, because He came as a servant, God exalted Him to the place of a King.

Verses 9-11 Therefore, God elevated Him to the place of highest honor and gave Him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord…

Consider David, who was anointed King in front of all His brothers by the prophet Samuel, but without hesitation went immediately back to caring for the family sheep out in the fields.

• By serving his family by shepherding in the field, he overcamethe bear and lion.

• By serving his brothers and bringing them lunch, he met his destinyin the form of Goliath.

• By serving the Lord in worship, he was promoted as King of all Israel.

Look on every opportunity God gives you to serve your family, your church, or your work place as a divine privilege and the pathway to promotion.
